Open source and free software are categories of applications which are available for anyone to use at no cost. This session will feature a number of programs which you can use for free, some of which were developed by the UW-Madison Division of Information Technology, Academic Technology.

  • Quiz Video and Concept Tutor are applications which allow instructors to easily create small learning objects to assess student learning.
  • eTeach is a program which combines video and powerpoint for presentation on the web.
  • Audacity is an audio editing application which was used by last year's Engage grant recipients for the editing of course podcasts.

This session will also feature how UW-Madison faculty are using open source tools, and time for your questions.
