eteacheTeach

Synopsis

Without offering much automation, eTEACH allows users to move PowerPoint presentations to the web, while retaining animations and high quality slides. It uses a web-based interface, so it is a cross-platform solution.

eTEACH was funded through DoIT's Engage Program and is supported currently by the developers within DoIT's Academic Technology department.

The Good

The program manages to extract PowerPoint slides at very high quality, while retaining animations at low data rates. The author has total control over timing of transitions and titles in the time line (or directly in the xml code that controls the animation). Synchronized video or audio, URL events, layout changes within the presentation and table of content entries allow for a very customized presentation.

The program is free. It is also the only cross-platform solution on our list.

The Bad

Still in development. Not as stable as one might desire. Ongoing support and development has yet to be determined.
