Faculty and staff on the UW Madison campus have agreed to share their courses with those that are looking for ideas or want to see what a Learn@UW course looks like. Take a glimpse at what our Madison instructors are doing with Learn@UW by following the instructions below.

Example Course 1 - Nursing

This Learn@UW course is used to supplement a face-to-face lecture course. It uses the Content and Classlist tools. The Content tool is used to provide students with weekly information. A lesson plan and relevant url links provide students with supplemental information. The Classlist allows students to view a list of other students in the class.
Example Course 2 - Kinesiology

This Learn@UW course is used for an undergraduate course. A few course meetings occur throughout the semester but the bulk of material is given via Learn@UW. It uses the Content, Classlist, Dropbox, Discussion, and Email tools. The Content tool is used to provide students with weekly information. The Discussion tool facilitates student discussions online throughout the semester. The Classlist allows students to view a list of other students in the class. The Dropbox allows students to upload assignments to a designated area. The Email tool allows users to have an internal email just for Learn@UW courses.
Example Course 3 - Distance Education

This Learn@UW course is used for a graduate distance education course. It uses the Content, Discussion, and Classlist tools. The Content tool provides students with objectives, assignments, and activities for the week. Discussions are structured and different users belong to different discussion groups. The Classlist allows students to view a list of other students in the class.
Example Course 4 - Education

This Learn@UW course is used for a graduate level course. It uses the Content, Discussion, and Dropbox tools. The Content tool is used to present the course syllabus and session by session outlines of readings, questions, discussion topics, and individual assignments. The Discussions area is used post online responses to readings and applications to mentoring. There is also a topic for groups to post summaries of their responses. The tool allows students to electronically submit and keep track of their individual short answer assignments.
Example Course 5 - Botany

This Learn@UW course is used for an online undergraduate course. It uses many tools including Discussion, Dropbox, Quizzes, Checklist, and Links. Students can discuss general course issues and lecture material in using the Discussion tool. Students use the Dropbox tool to submit all of their course assignments. Quizzes are available for 2 to 3 days at a time, and once students begin their quiz, the have a time limit of 30 minutes to complete it. The Checklist tool helps students keep track of assignments, quizzes, and their progress through the course. The Links tool makes all of the online readings accessible from one starting point. A custom tool called Lectures was created to make virtual lectures available to students as the course progresses.
