Feedback Manager addresses the challenge of providing useful feedback to students on low stakes quizzes and class exercises when class enrollments number in the hundreds. It is known that asking students to write short essay style answers to questions about key concepts improves their learning. Feedback Manager makes it possible for an instructor to classify student answers by the kinds of confusions or errors they contain, to tailor comments to each class of error, and to email these comments to the students. Typical comments can be assembled into a report for general review in class.
Feedback Manager was developed for the Biology 151/152/153 courses at UW-Madison and now used in a number of courses and disciplines on campus.
