Evaluation of Course and Student Performance

It is important at the beginning of the design process to think about how you will assess student learning, as well as how you will assess the course. Tie goals and objectives to learning outcomes. Make sure these outcomes are measurable. Determine how you will measure them. Determine when you will assess learning.

Since course design never ends, it is also important to plan for an assessment of how the course was presented. Included in this assessment would be questions on:

  • how the course was organized and presented
  • how the instructor performed and responded to student need
  • how content was delivered
  • how students were engaged in learning
  • how learning was assessed
  • how communication methods worked
