The Audio & Video Camp focused on highlighting ways of integrating multimedia into instruction and delivering that content to students. This series is now defunct due to low enrollment. Please contact us if you would like a consultation on audio or video technologies. We will keep the AVS materials online for those who wish to use the materials as a reference or at their own pace.

The series will focus on the basics of both video and audio technologies. The Audio & Video Series is restricted to UW Madison faculty and instructional staff who teach or support UW Madison Timetable courses.

Registration is required for this series. There is no registration fee. Registration is for the entire camp, not individual days. Methods and Formats of Delivery
There are many manners and methods of accessing media content. This session will provide an overview of each type and provide guidelines and suggestions about which ones will meet your needs.

Video Editing - iMovie
Apple's iMovie make video editing a breeze. By the end of this fast-paced session, you'll be able to import digital video to the computer, edit it, and produce your course content.

Preparing High Quality Content
Once you know you want to use digital media to supplement your course, it is important to understand how to get media that looks and sounds great and compresses well. You'll learn the basic properties of digital media and the variables to keep in mind when recording audio and video.

Compression Tools - Sorenson Squeeze
Once your content is prepared, the final step is to prepare it for delivery to the appropriate format. Sorenson Squeeze can be used to compress and create output to RealMedia, QuickTime and Windows Media files. Compression settings, format limitations, recommendations, and server deployment will be discussed.

Video Editing - Vegas Video
After you've recorded video for your course using a DV camera, you'll want to work with it. This session will teach you how to easily capture and edit video on a PC using Vegas Video.

Audio Editing - Audacity
Digital audio editing has never been easier. Learn how to use Audacity to record and edit audio quickly and easily.

Friday, January 19th : Day Four

Narrative Presentations : Breeze Presentation and Articulate
Many faculty and instructional staff want the ability to convert existing PowerPoint materials so that they are suitable for an online or hybrid course. This session will focus on "narrative presentations" using Breeze Presentation, a free tool being piloted  by UW Madison and other system schools, and Articulate.
